MPD Tips
Ideas for Your Team's Monthly Group MPD Time

The following are some great tips for MPD. As you can see, there is an assumed strategy mentioned here that you may want to implement. That is a team group MPD day. MPD Tips at a Glance

  • Read the book, Funding Your Ministry (Whether You're Gifted or Not), by Scott Morton. Available through Dawson Media online or call (719) 594-2100.
  • Use TntMPD (http://www.tntmpd.com).
  • Utilize the Small Dinner Strategy. Videos explaining strategy and to use with potential host available through New Life Resources online or call 800-827-2788.
  • Pray!
    Ask God daily to meet your financial needs.
    Get 2 people to pray daily for you while you focus on MPD, and 5 people to pray while you're on an MPD trip.
    Pray specifically!
  • Calculate your support goal and develop an annual MPD plan.
  • Cultivate, cultivate, cultivate.
    Any Christian you meet.
    Former disciples, etc.
    Add them to your prayer letter list. In six months ask them to join your team.
  • Send a prayer letter each month.
    Cast vision using one good story.
    Share details about your life so they can get to know you.
    Don’t mention your support needs in your letter.
  • Ask for increases!
  • Reclaim delinquent support.
    Call all ministry partners who have missed 2 months in a row.
  • Send a Direct Giving Plan enrollment form to every ministry partner who is not already giving through the Direct Giving Plan.
  • For credit card donations direct your partners to Credit card donations online. You can also customize your gift page.
    Update your presentation.
    Note that VACA's are available for senior staff (contact MPDonline@uscm.org for details).
    Consider attending an MPD training-you can! Tuition is waived for senior staff. Contact Dan Carmichael at

  • Ask for help.
  • Search the MPD Web site for resources.
  • Develop your own Web site.
  • Use the Schwaninger referral ask strategy for getting lots of new contacts.
  • When raising support from a distance, try scheduling 30 minute telephone appointments with potential partners.
  • Make sure you have a plan before you take an MPD trip.
